Ogden Honors in Oxford
Step into centuries of academic tradition and intellectual exploration with the Ogden Honors in Oxford program, a signature summer opportunity for students in the LSU Ogden Honors College. Immerse yourself in the culture, history, and academic rigor of one of the world’s most renowned universities: the University of Oxford.
Program Overview
Spend four weeks living and studying at Oxford University, where you’ll engage with distinguished scholars and fellow Honors students in small seminar-style courses. As part of a deeply immersive educational experience, you’ll explore topics ranging from British history and literature to politics, art, and philosophy—often right where the events and ideas first took shape.

Duration: ~3.5 weeks (Summer Term)
Credits: 6 LSU Honors College credits
Eligibility: Open to all Ogden Honors College students in good standing

Academic Experience
Courses are taught in the Oxford tutorial tradition, encouraging in-depth discussion,
independent research, and critical thinking. Students choose from a selection of interdisciplinary
humanities and social science seminars tailored to the location and context of Oxford
and the UK.
Cultural Immersion
Outside the classroom, Oxford becomes your campus. Students will:

Spring Break Study Abroad
BerlinThis is a program for anyone interested in German history and film! This excursion is a part of the HNRS 2013: The 20th Century, Surveillance States of Germany course being offered during Spring 2026. You must be enrolled in the course to participate in this program!
The course will give you an overview of the surveillance states of Germany during the National Socialist period as well as the years of the former East Germany. You will more closely examine the concept of these "Big Brother" societies as they are portrayed in various texts and in the films The Lives of Others (2007) and Triumph of the Will (1935).
NaplesIgnite your curiosity this Spring Break in HNRS 2009 Physical Science for Citizens as you explore the vibrant intersection of geology, art, and culture in Naples—where ancient volcanoes, rich history, and artistic masterpieces converge.
Designed for non-science majors, this immersive program invites you to: Uncover the powerful forces that shape our world, discover how Earth’s materials influence art and architecture, and experience Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, and the Bay of Naples through hands-on learning. You must be enrolled in the course to participate in the program.
Ogden Honors in London & Edinburgh
Spend your summer exploring the vibrant cultures of London and Edinburgh and the Lake District National Park. Through this immersive, faculty-led, Honors signature program, you’ll trace Britain’s story—past and present—through its music, science, language, and more.
Academic Overview
Choose from courses in:
Music – Explore the UK’s diverse musical heritage, from classical to contemporary, through
museum visits, performances, and site tours.
Biology – Examine some of the most pivotal scientific discoveries in human history at institutions
like the Alexander Fleming Museum and the Roslin Institute (where Dolly the sheep
was cloned).
English & Linguistics – Study the evolution of the English language, tracing its roots and influence through
literature, place, and people.
All courses are designed to engage directly with your surroundings, bringing lectures to life through hands-on learning and curated cultural experiences.
