LSU Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering Associate Professor Ipsita Gupta recently received a $261,000 research grant from Idaho National Laboratory (INL)/Battelle Energy Alliance and funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Geothermal Technologies Office. The project aims to investigate the potential for critical minerals, specifically lithium, in produced waters from oil and gas fields within Louisiana's Smackover Formation.

As part of their senior capstone project, a team of LSU engineering students developed MuniciPal, a mobile and web-based application designed to simplify and digitize the entire public works reporting process.

LSU Mechanical Engineering Assistant Professor Chris Marvel recently received a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, which recognizes early-career faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education, and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.
